Decorating an apartment with identity and functionality
This apartment decoration project was the starting point for transforming a four-bedroom apartment in Vila Nova de Gaia into a functional, aesthetically balanced space adapted to the owners’ distinct tastes. The intervention focused on the social areas – living room, dining room and kitchen – with the aim of renovating dated and darkened environments, respecting existing elements such as the original carpet with a strong visual presence.
The central challenge was to harmonize two opposing visions of style: she appreciates colorful environments rich in decorative elements; he, on the other hand, values a clean, minimalist and monochromatic approach. The solution found balances these preferences, giving rise to a cohesive, elegant and welcoming environment.
The kitchen as a functional and aesthetic hub
Restructuring the kitchen stood out as one of the great assets of this apartment decoration project. The creation of a multifunctional piece of furniture made it possible to maximize the use of a previously poorly used space. The new layout has integrated a coffee area and a worktop that also functions as a table, giving the room versatility and fluidity.
Customized solutions and bespoke carpentry
One of the distinctive elements was the oak woodwork, custom-made for this apartment decoration project. Furniture around the fireplace and a wine cellar replaced old pieces, bringing visual lightness and greater use of space. The indirect lighting, with an adjustable system, enhances the texture of the wood and creates different atmospheres throughout the day.
Low impact execution
The apartment was inhabited during the intervention, requiring strict planning of the work schedule in order to minimize disruption to the residents’ routine. This efficient management was essential to the success of the apartment decoration project, which combines aesthetics, functionality and comfort without compromising the clients’ daily lives.
